Highest surface quality in steel casting with HA’s No-Bake binder system

The Otto Junker stainless-steel foundry uses iron, cobalt and nickel-based high-alloy materials to produce safety components, such as pumps, valves, centrifuges and more for the chemical, pharmaceutical, oil and gas industries. These components are frequently deployed in critical environments, which means that all of the materials and production processes need to fulfil the highest quality requirements in order to guarantee the customer the highest possible product quality.

In its hand moulding processes, the foundry relies on an advanced resole ester process called Sinotherm. In terms of the surface quality of steel/stainless steel castings, this cold-hardening binder system is simply unbeatable.

The challenges

Highest possible surface quality is the key requirement the casting components need to fulfil. It is equally important to keep odour emissions during casting to an absolute minimum, as the foundry is located near a residential area. In order to make production processes more environmentally compatible, reducing benzene emissions was of the essence.

The solution

The solution

To meet all of the requirements of the casting process, Otto Junker uses HA’s advanced Sinotherm 200 binder system, which offers a range of environmental and technological benefits:

  • Significantly lowered emissions
  • Increased strength
  • Gas reduction achieved by combining the right binder and coating
