ExoPlast - Prototyping and small series rethought

News from Chemex: Metko HA launches ExoPlast production. The patented material, which has been used successfully in many trials, opens up completely new possibilities for small series and prototype production.

An innovation in casting technology

ExoPlast is a state-of-the-art, pre-mixed exothermic material that considerably simplifies the production of contour break cores and exopads. While conventional processes are often costly and only economical for large quantities, ExoPlast is an efficient and cost-effective solution - ideal for small batch production and prototyping.

Easy handling for precise production

ExoPlast already contains all the necessary components, including a binder and catalyst in the form of a Pentex system, which is comparable to the familiar cold box binders used in core production. As no new binder system is introduced into the sand cycle, the existing production process remains unaffected. The two components are mixed manually and cure independently, guaranteeing easy handling.

Flexibility in application

The material is extremely versatile: it can be applied directly to the model or filled into a 3D-printed mold. This flexibility allows production to be individually adapted to different requirements and design ideas - both for small series and individual prototypes.

Independence from external influences

A major advantage of ExoPlast is its independence from external factors. It requires neither a gaseous catalyst nor heat to react. This means that the material can be used in a variety of environments and under a wide range of conditions.

Optimization through simulation options

ExoPlast behaves like exothermic feeders and therefore enables an exact simulation of the solidification behavior. With appropriate simulation programs, the design can be optimized in advance, which guarantees greater precision and efficiency in the production process.

With ExoPlast, Chemex offers a practical and economical solution that revolutionizes casting technology for small series and prototype production. We look forward to setting new standards with this product.
